La Candela Salsa Orchestra | Solothurner Latin Festival 10. März 2018

For the first time in Switzerland! For all the lovers of salsa, son montuno, guaguancó, mambo and cha cha cha!

La Candela is an youth but experienced orchestra seeking a place among the preferences of Salsa dancers. Our proposal aims to “hook” the dancer with the primal rhythms of salsa like the son montuno, guaguancó, mambo and cha cha cha.

In the words of its founders "Our reason to exist is La Salsa because it's what we love to do. In our land, Canary Islands, it is very normal to listen to and there is a strong salsera tradition born of migratory movements there have been since centuries between the Canaries and Latin America. But in la Salsa itself we like to differentiate the rhythms and proof of this is our repertoire, where you can find guaguancó, mambo, pachanga, boogaloo, a series of rhythms and genres that dancers today really enjoy and dance.

The main influence of the orchestra is Joe Cuba and his sextet. From them they have taken "borrowed" many of his hits to the repertoire and aside also the way they usually interpreted their music reaching far the dancer, so they have supported in that style. They have obviously been influenced by many other artists, including the Joe Cuba singer himself, Cheo Feliciano, Ruben Blades, Hector Lavoe, TitoRodriguez, Oscar D'Leon and many others who they have "drunk" since very young.

Therefore La Candela tried to compose a group to recover the sound of the era when Salsa was forging. The band consists of seven musicians based in Tenerife (Canary Islands) including youth and seniority mix. Some of them are still studying at the music conservatory and the veterans have been part of bands sharing stages with
international figures such as Tito Nieves, Tony Vega, Adalberto Santiago, Cheo Feliciano, Luisito Carrion, Manolito Simonet, Pedro Brull, etc.

The intention is, above all, make people enjoy the most direct way possible, and this is only achieved with live music. Our target audience is the Salsa dancer, great consumer of this kind of music so we are putting all our efforts to reach the various salsa congresses and festivals held throughout the world and at any time of year.
